The Scott County Economic Development Corporation is managing one of the top adult education programs in the state, helping to improve workforce quality in Southern Indiana. Region 10 was the only region to meet and exceed goals set forth by the state in 2012 and is on track to do the same in 2013.
The success of the adult education program has resulted in a 62 percent increase in additional funding from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development which will be used to increase capacity. In Scott County, adult education classes are currently held at the Scott County Lifelong Learning Center. Starting in July, those incarcerated at the Scott County Jail will have the opportunity to obtain a GED to help them find employment or pursue more education when released.
The Region 10 adult education program serves students in Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Harrison, Scott and Washington counties. For more information, please call the Region 10 Adult Education hotline at 812-981-3777.
